Numerology and Sacred Geometry in Indra's Net
« on: September 16, 2008, 05:56:12 AM »
93 from Outer Space, Lovely Ladies!

This is Major Tom to Ground Control, I'M STEPPING THROUGH THE DOOR, and I'm floating in a most peculiar way,
and the STARS look VERY different... TODAY!

Ahem. I am here to do some serious and important business that I see nobody has done before me. It has been hinted at, yes, in the discussion of General Strategy, but I am here to "give away the game", so to speak, like Aleister Crowley, Leonardo Da Vinci, and others before, after, and in-between.

Let's begin with a juxtaposition of Magick, Qabalah, Tarot, Numerology and Sacred Geometry with the Point System, shall we?

00. (The Fool) Regarding the Points
In order to truly learn from this game, you must engage it! Engage it as a military operation! Engage it with life and death seriousness! Engage it like a dog engages a bone! Use every resource at your disposal to figure it out! Dig! Dig deeper! Gate Gate Paragate Parasamgate Bodhi Svaha!

1. (The Magician) The Fear Point
Has anyone ever impressed upon you the mortal importance of looking out for "number one"? Come to think of it, does that not sound like an instinct rooted in survival, self-preservation, defense, and "healthy" fear? The number One encapsulates the whole of existence, "everything". It is limited in its unity, however, because in relation to things which are *not* of itself, first and foremost, it must *defend* itself. It wears a black hood, a cowl. The same black hood that a magician or occultist would wear. Underneath the hood is a face of strange, unnatural, deathly color, greasy hair, and a cautious expression.

A problem with this theory: there are 22 major arcana and only 11 (12 if you count hate) points!

93 RinkuHero,

There is actually no problem with this theory. I can explain, if you bear with me. According to the magical theory of Sacred Geometry and of Numerology*, every number is perfect, in and of itself. There is some wiggle-room for interpretation, I'll give you that- but since you based your scheme upon a logic of progression through the number line, not unlike any other holy system of divine interpretation, all will fall into place as I create it. I've been brainstorming, recieving danmaku-like lightningbolts of power as I've been developing my own personal interpretation, which this is.

How can someone be personal and objective at the same time?

Heh, how can someone be an artist?
How can someone be... a magician, no less?

*Sacred Geometry and Numerology are magically linked. For that matter, they are also linked to Qabalah and Tarot, and any other system of divine interpretation. Need I not remind you that in Sun Tzu's Art of War, statement #7 is about the importance of HEAVEN in military strategy. Read it again, if you have the will/inclination to do so, Sir.

I'll tell you right now that you're wrong, and here is why.

The story is structured in blocks of 16, or the four suits by four.  Every individual mission in a campaign can be thought of as the crossing of one suit by another suit: cups/cups, for example, is the mission where the Love point is introduced.  pentacles/pentacles is the Raberata mission at the end.

Moreover, there are six campaigns.  Each campaign represents one astrological house.  We could only do six because of technical problems with this release, the signs starting from Aries at the opening of the year: Immortal Defense 2 will feature the rest up through Pisces whenever it's made.  The game tracks the progression of the fundamental unities of the suits through the seasonal fluctuations of the zodiac as a phenomenological/metaphysical model of human consciousness as it develops toward self-realization/nullity/immortality.  It is impossible to truly understand the game without understanding this.

So I'm sorry, but your analysis is incorrect.  Our next major game, code-named "SD", will in fact be about the major arcana, however, with the debate between the Crowleyan and Ridder-Waite positioning of the Chariot as a central theme.  Look for it!

Sir or Madam,

I GREATLY appreciate your illumination regarding this matter! You may have my sword!
It is obvious to me I am not nearly as trained or learned an occultist as you are.
You have confirmed what I strongly suspected (that powerful occult intelligence was involved in the making of this game)
and you have given me a map, straight from the intelligence which created this game, towards greater mastery of its terrain.

An Astral Atlas!

I've realized I'm the reincarnation of EVERYTHING... conciousness itself. A ghost in a shell. I'm still perfectly sane and sober and I still have my own mortal limitations. But I'm ready to move beyond what I was once before.

I wear the rags of a beggar. I do not pretend to be greater than what I merely am. In my life, right now, I am searching. I am nearly prepared to turn myself in to military intelligence as a reincarnated military officer. Your game woke me up.
