* Cactus - Cactus is one of the most prolific and original independent game developers I know. To miss his games would be a disaster!
* Bit Blot - Aquaria is one of the highest-profile and most polished independent games out there, so check it out.
* Positech Games - Cliff Harris is probably my most-admired indie developer. His games have rough edges, but they're very deep.
* Puppy Games - A nice collection of games. Like everyone in this list, he makes the games he wants to make.
* The Magi - TeeGee is a great playtester, and his game is very strategic and addictive. Looking forward to future games by him.
* Hanako Games - On first glance, these look like simplistic anime-inspired games. But on third glance, there's heart to them.
* Amaranthia - Amanda showed that 2D Japanese-style RPGs can gather a wide audience even today.
* Iteration Games - Jph Wacheski has single-handedly created the best collection of games ever made on the Game Maker.
* Vertigo Games - Mr. Chubbigans creates fun games. There's no other way to say it.
* Autofish.net - Seiklus is the game that best proves there's more to the Game Maker than fangames made by twelve-year-olds.
* Orisinal - Ferry Halim makes me want to learn Flash.
* Tale of Tales - Beautiful 3D games, they have a great manifesto too.
* Pug Fugly Games - A great collection of games, I'm on many of the high-score lists there too. ^_^
* Indygamer - I write there, very occasionally, but mostly it's TimW, who is the single greatest games journalist on the planet.
* TIGSource Forums - This is my favorite message board about independent games, there are always at least three interesting discussions going on there at once.
* Home of the Underdogs - Beware the pop-ups! But you can get a super-huge variety of games there, thousands upon thousands of excellent but forgotten games from days of yore, dating back to the 70s.
* Manifesto Games - The single best collection of shareware independent games online. If you want to play the best the field has to offer, it's probably there.
